Most people with disabilities need continuous access to affordable health insurance. Unfortunately, many Americans who have a disability are unable to obtain medical insurance because of their existing conditions and may have to wait years to get health care coverage under social security insurance.
Several provisions of the new legislation on health reform legislation signed in March will provide some relief:
To delete existing denials conditions
From September, children with pre-existing conditions may not be denied access to their health and your health insurer will not be allowed to ensure your child, but exclude treatments for his son existing conditions; 2014, even adults.
However create a State based on law, programmes of high-risk pool to provide health insurance for people with existing medical conditions that were denied coverage .This temporary programs will be funded from 1 July 2010 until 1 January 2014 when based on State and regional health insurance Exchange is available.
Expanding Medicaid coverage
Medicaid Eligibility will be expanded to include all Americans under 65 years of age with incomes up to 133% of the federal poverty line; this includes children, pregnant women, parents and adults without children; to pay for this extension, the Federal Government will give your permission for additional financing Medicaid 2014.
Expanding the long-term support options
in 2011, the Federal Government begins to distribute it to the class program (community living support and support), a national programmes, voluntary insurance for individuals with an advantage of money if they have a functional limitation or disability.
Delete borders on the insurance coverage
Since October, prohibits the provision your health insurer to introduce any time limits their benefits.
Reduce costs of medicines
If you are enrolled in part d prescription plan of public health, the health reform bill, reduce the amount you must pay for their prescription drugs when you reach the doughnut hole, or the distance of coverage.
